More than 1.2 million boxes of avocados from Chile were unloaded at the Port of San Diego during the September through December 1996 season. Chilean fruit exporters have steadily increased their cargo shipments through San Diego since the Port opened its $11 million Cold Storage Facility in 1993, the Port announced.
