Mark Twain once said, "Work is only work if you would rather be doing something else."
It's a quote that Gilbert D. Cooke loves to say, not only because he believes it, but also because he practices it.
Cooke has been dean of the NewSchool of Architecture and Design for the past nine years, and helped transform the downtown area college from a one-building campus to a two-city-block school.
Since the school opened almost 30 years ago, it has only offered bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture.
This fall, the college will offer full-time, five-year degree programs in construction management, landscape architecture and digital media arts.
