President and CEO of RQ Construction Inc. George Rogers will admit it wasn’t the company’s best year on record by any stretch, but he feels blessed that the company was able to obtain a healthy amount of work in military construction and to still turn a profit.

“We were not as successful as in previous years, but we’ve positioned ourselves well enough to be in the best shape for this current market,” Rogers said.

RQ Construction’s success is based on positioning itself as a federal contractor. In 2010, the company secured approximately $175 million in military construction contracts to help build commercial and institutional buildings for the Southwest region and in Fort Brag, N.C.
