When Larry Anderson took charge at Tri-City Medical Center last year, he took on some daunting challenges.

Founded in 1957, the full-service North County facility had taken a big financial hit when a group of its physicians switched to Scripps Health. "We lost our largest Independent Practice Association physician group," Anderson said. "This represented a huge chunk of business -- we are now in the process of rebuilding that business, while expanding high-end capabilities in cardiac and neurosurgery."
