As The Daily Transcript celebrates its 120th year in print, our editorial board -- with help from the San Diego Historical Society -- reflects back on our region’s rich history. In this feature, we pay tribute to some of the pioneers who played an integral part in laying the foundation for San Diego’s future growth. Peter F. Hedley is the president of Galaxie Defense Marketing Services (GDMS). The company assists clients in the government marketplace by introducing new products and services to key decision makers and influencers, developing and maintaining long-term business relationships, providing strategic business information, and improving client business practices.
Hedley was a licensed Merchant Marine Engineer who retired as a U.S. Navy Captain, having served in all components of the Surface Navy. He has had experience with business development, served as a facilities manager and congressional liaison, and maintains frequent interface with Navy laboratories, fleet activities and uniformed Navy leadership.
Hedley has been a member of a number of boards including the San Diego Navy Historical Association Inc., Military Affairs Advisory Council, Point Loma Rotary Club, Armed Services YMCA and the Navy League.
