As The Daily Transcript celebrates its 120th year in print, our editorial board -- with help from the San Diego Historical Society -- reflects back on our region’s rich history. In this feature, we pay tribute to some of the pioneers who played an integral part in laying the foundation for San Diego’s future growth. John S. Hawkins, a Southern California native, is president and CEO of Cloud 9 Shuttle. He has over 15 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry.
Hawkins is responsible for the strategic direction of Cloud 9 Shuttle as well as financial leadership and expertise, and also conducts the company's corporate and community relations.
Hawkins is an active member of the San Diego business community. He is immediate past chairman of the board of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, vice chairman of the board of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and on the board of directors of the Better Business Bureau, the Holiday Bowl, the San Diego International Sports Council, the Port Tenants Association and the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum. He has served as chairman of the Corporate Finance Council and Fleet Week San Diego, and is a member of the Downtown Rotary Club.
