As one of San Diego’s largest providers of “safety net” health services for low-income, underserved residents, San Ysidro Health Center continues to expand despite the local economy.
Since early 2009, SYHC's uninsured population has increased approximately 35 percent,
said Chief Executive Officer Ed Martinez.
“This increase in uninsured patients is the largest increase our health center has ever experienced,” he said.
While Martinez has his work cut out for him, his leadership and ability to bring in funding have made SYHC a nationally recognized model for coverage and care.
