When Dan Johnson first approached SCS Engineers as a potential buyer of EBS, he reserved a question or two about the company's health. SCS had been experiencing flat revenue for a while, he said, with annual figures around $50 million. But the company presented him with a strategic plan that included something he saw potential in -- energy. Ten years later, SCS Engineers is posting yearly revenues around $150 million with a growing energy division.
"I couldn't do that by myself at EBS," Johnson said. "There was no way I was going to triple my revenues, so SCS has been very successful. We got the diversification we were looking for."
So successful have been the last few years under Johnson that the SCS offices in Kearny Mesa have expanded in size several times over.
