Don Starkey

Wachovia Bank has been expanding its financial footprint across the country and has set its sights on dominating California. According to Don Starkey, the senior vice president of the new commercial group in the San Diego market, Wachovia -- the fourth largest bank in the country -- should have no trouble succeeding.
Starkey celebrated his 18th year in banking this February. He started working as a teller at the age of 16 and was managing a branch by 19. The experience of starting in entry-level banking and growing up under the influence of two entrepreneurial parents demonstrated from an early age the importance of superior customer service in achieving success.
