Veoh is essentially a file sharing site, but with television shows and some movies. The major differences between Veoh and other such sites are that downloads on Veoh are legal, not pirated, and display in full-screen, television quality.

Shapiro, the company's founder and chief executive officer, is certain this will change not only the way people watch TV, but what they watch and how ads are designed and sold.

"It's the biggest thing, I think, that's happened to the world since speech itself," Shapiro said.

Veoh, or a program like it, will change television because instead of having to appeal to a mass audience, shows and the commercials aired during them can be minutely tailored to fit niche tastes, Shapiro said.
