Notice of Public Hearing
---

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Historic Site Board (HSB) of the County of San Diego will conduct a public hearing.
HEARING INFORMATION:
Date: January 22, 2007
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Department of Planning and Land Use Hearing Room, 5201 Ruffin Road, Suite B,San Diego, California 92123
The following ACTION item has been placed on the agenda:
WAKEFIELD/CADMAN HOUSE IN MT. HELIX
Location: 4625 Calvo Drive, La Mesa; Valle de Oro Community Planning GroupSupervisor District: 2 - Dianne Jacob
Description: The Wakefield/Cadman house is a Spanish Revival style home constructed in 1930 by the Olmstead Building Company as part of the Mt. Helix Calavo Gardens land subdivision. The palatial home was build for American composer and pianist Charles Wakefield Cadman, who arrived in San Diego in 1929. The house embodies the distinctive characteristics of Spanish Revival domestic architecture in San Diego and Southern California between c.1915 and c. 1935 (Historic Resource Criteria 9493 V.(b)3). In addition, the house is associated with the lives of persons important to the history of San Diego County (Historic Resource Criteria 9493 V.(b)2).
The following DISCUSSION items have been placed on the agenda:
€ C.J. PADEREWSKI RESIDENCE IN BONITA
Description: This house was designed by C.J. Paderewski in 1951 for Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Cole. The current owners are interested in pursuing historical designation for the Mills Act. They believe historical designation under local Criterion C is warranted since the house is a good example of the Mid-Century Modern architectural style and also under local Criterion D as an example of the design work of master architect C.J. Paderewski. The owners would like Historic Site Board input as to whether or not the County is likely to concur with the assessment of the home's historical significance and whether or not proposed modifications would negatively affect the potential for historical designation.
GENERAL INFORMATION: This public hearing is accessible to individuals with disabilities. If interpreter services for the hearing impaired are needed, please call the hearing staff liaison at (858) 694-3656 or California Relay Service, if notifying by TDD, no later than seven days prior to the date of the hearing.
NOTE: The Historic Site Board function is to act as an advisory body to both the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. Decisions made by the Historic Site Board are in the form of a recommendation and are not the final decision. An opportunity will be provided for you to speak at this hearing regarding any of the above items.
