CONSULTING ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS FOR FHWA FUNDED
PROJECTS

The County of San Diego Department of Public Works invites qualified Consultants to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) to provide services for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)-funded projects in San Diego County involving construction materials inspection, materials testing and geotechnical engineering consulting for County-maintained bridges and related structures. Consultant must demonstrate ability to perform geotechnical engineering and materials services in accordance with current design and construction guidelines for FHWA projects. Materials services include, but are not limited to, testing and sampling of soil, asphalt concrete, Portland cement products, steel, masonry, aggregate, welding inspection, and non-destructive materials testing. Geotechnical services may include evaluation of geological setting(s), condition, structure and formation, testing and evaluation of soil characteristics, geophysical investigation, groundwater evaluation, landslide investigation and geological hazards (including local and regional seismic faults) and potential for liquefaction. Consultant may be required to provide recommendations/professional opinion during project design phase and/or in the event of unforeseen soil, water seepage, or geologic problems that may be encountered during construction. Consultant laboratory and personnel assigned to County projects shall have appropriate accreditations and/or certifications(s) (e.g. AASHTO, ASTM, NICET, ACI, AWS, etc.) for sampling and testing associated with bridge design and construction. Accreditations and/or certifications shall be valid at time of SOQ submittal and remain valid throughout contract duration. Consultant shall ensure that any subconsultant utilized for backup or specialized services shall also meet the certification requirements prior to and during their employ with Consultant. The County intends to award (3) contracts for an amount not to exceed $300,000 each for a term of up to (3) years. Consultants shall be selected based on Qualifications. Fees for services provided are to be negotiated. Contract award projected for March 2010. Underutilized Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (UDBE) goal for this project is 3.5 percent. UDBE commitment and Good Faith Effort (GFE) submittals are required. SOQs must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the following address:

The County of San Diego, Owner, invites bids for San Dieguito Park ADA Accessible Restroom and Storage Building; PROJECT 1008292 (RFB 4281).

Sealed bids will be received at the Office of Purchasing and Contracting, at 10089 Willow Creek Rd, Ste. 150, San Diego, 92131, until 2:00 PM on February 23, 2010, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.
