Notice is hereby given that the Board of Education of the San Diego Unified School District, acting by and through its governing board,hereinafter referred to as District will receive sealed bids for the furnishing of all labor, materials, transportation, equipment, and services for the removal or demolition of six single-family dwellings, two studio units, and two (2) duplex buildings consisting of four units located at various addresses on 35th Street, Polk Avenue, and Wilson Avenue, San Diego, CA 92104.
Bids will be received by the District at the Facilities Development Department, Education Center, 4100 Normal Street, Annex 2, Room 107, San Diego, California 92103, up to, but not later than, 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 1998, at which time bids will be opened and publicly read aloud.
Each bid must conform and be responsive to the contract documents now on file at the Facilities Development Department of the Board of Education, 4100 Normal Street, Annex 2, Room 107, (619) 293-8327, where copies of the documents may be obtained beginning Monday, January 26, 1998, at a cost of $10 (non-refundable) for each set of documents so obtained. Checks should be made payable to the San Diego Unified School District.
Each bidder shall be a licensed contractor pursuant to the Business and Professional Code and shall be licensed in the following classification: C-21. The bidder or his subcontractors shall have proper certification for removal of asbestos and lead-paint-containing materials.
The Director of the Department of Industrial Relations has determined that the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder, copies of which are on file and will be made available for review to any interested party upon request at the Compliance Coordinator for the district (619) 496-8005. It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom this contract is awarded and upon any subcontractors thereto to pay not less than the said specified rates to all workers employed by them in the execution of the contract.
Each bid shall be submitted on the Bid Form to be obtained from the Facilities Development Department of the Board of Education. Each bid shall be accompanied by a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and surety company, or certified check, or cashier's check in favor of the San Diego Unified School District, or cash, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid. Said Bid Bond shall be given to guarantee that the bidder will execute the contract as specified, within three (3) working days after the notification of the award of the contract to bidder. Attention is called to the fact that a list of proposed subcontractors and their location (city) must be submitted with the bid. All affirmative action plan requirements of the San Diego Unified School District will apply.
The District reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularities or informalities in any bids or in the bidding. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of 60 days after the date set for the opening bids.
