NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the City of San Diego will receive bids for work listed below. Plans and specifications can be obtained from the Engineering and Capital Projects Department, Administration Division, Executive Complex, 1010 Second Avenue, Suite 500, San Diego, California, where bids are to be submitted prior to time specified.
It is the policy of the City of San Diego to encourage equal opportunity in its construction, consultant, material and supply contracts. 1. CONSTRUCTION OF SKATEBOARD MEMORIAL PARK

Contractors interested in bidding this project must be pre-qualified in a two step process. Step1 requires the contractor to submit a pre-qualification application to the City of San Diego, Engineering and Capital Projects Department, Pre-Qualification Program, 1010 Second Avenue, Suite 1200, San Diego, California 92101. Please contact Ray Roberson, at (619) 533 3474, to obtain an application. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible to obtain the required approval before bid opening.
Step 2 requires the contractor to submit a Statement of Qualifications [SOQ] to the Project Manager, Tina Huang, at the Engineering and Capital Projects Department, Public Buildings and Parks Division, 1010 2nd Avenue, Suite 1400, San Diego, CA 92101. One original and ten (10) copies of the SOQs must be in a sealed envelope, clearly marked ?Statement of Qualifications for Memorial Skateboard Park Project,? and addressed and delivered no later than 2:30 p.m.(PST) on February 21, 2003. SOQs received after 2:30 p.m. will not be evaluated. The SOQs will not be opened publicly. The SOQ will be evaluated by the City?s selection committee. Successful applicants must have the following experience: (1) forming, placing, and finishing concrete and shotcrete around cast-in-place metal coping materials, while providing consistent concrete and shotcrete finishes with minimal tolerance variation; (2) forming, placing, and finishing cast-in place or precast concrete 'pool' copings; (3) placing monolithic shotcrete radial walls and sculptural skatepark elements, containing no expansion or construction joints; (4) providing consistent positive drainage while maintaining consistent slab thickness in highly detailed finish concrete applications; and (5) installing drainage facilities within concrete, providing flush installations at all edges for smooth transitions from concrete to drain inlet.
Contractors wishing to submit their SOQ may obtain a Request for Qualifications [RFQ] package on January 27, 2003, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Engineering and Capital Projects Department, Contract Services Division, 1010 2nd Avenue, Suite 500. San Diego, CA 92101.
A information meeting will be held on February 13, 2003, to discuss the scope of the project, and the City?s Equal Opportunity Program requirements in the conference room, 5th floor, 1010 Second Avenue, Suite 500, San Diego, CA 92101, at 11:00 a.m.. The Project Manager will be in attendance. Prospective bidders are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting.
