NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
Notice is hereby given that the Purchasing Department, First Floor, of the San Diego Unified Port District will receive sealed bids at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, until 2:00 P.M. on the 7TH day of February 2003 for:

DISTRICT HVAC SYSTEMS
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
The project includes providing all labor, supervision, materials, and replacement parts for fully maintaining the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems installed at the District Administration Building, installed at the Harbor Police Dispatch Building, which will be installed at the General Services Building upon completion of construction under District Contract No. 2002-19, which will be installed at the Harbor Police Administration Building upon completion of construction under District Contract No. 2002-25, and which will be installed at Head House No. 2 at Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal upon completion of construction under District Contract No. 2002-18, as specified in these specifications. The initial Contract period will be one year (365 calendar days), with District option to extend the Contract a maximum of two additional one-year (365 calendar day) periods, for a maximum total Contract period of three years (1,095 calendar days). See Exhibit A for locations of buildings.
The magnitude of this work is in the range of $400,000.00 to $500,000.00.
The bidder must possess a valid California State Contractors License, Classification C-20 at the time the contract is submitted.
Bids will be opened in public at or about that hour at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, all as more particularly contained in Document No. 45275 on file in the office of the Clerk of said District. No bidder may withdraw a bid within 60 days after the date set for the opening of bids.
A pre-bid conference will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on January 22, 2003, in Conference Room 1 at the District Administration Building.
Plans and specifications are available for download on Port of San Diego website, www.portofsandiego.org. Plans and specifications may also be purchased for $10.00 per each set on or about January 8, 2003, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding District holidays, from the Purchasing Department, San Diego Unified Port District, P.O. Box 120488, San Diego, CA 92112-0488, or picked up in person at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, Telephone Number (619) 686-6320. Shipment of plans and specifications by Federal Express is available at Bidder?s expense (please provide a completed airbill with your request). The purchase price and cost of shipment are not refundable. One set of plans and specifications will be made available by the District to local plan file services.
In accordance with the provisions of the California State Labor Code, the District has obtained the general prevailing rate of wages (which rate includes employer payments for health and welfare, vacation, pension and similar purposes) applicable to the work to be done, for straight time, overtime, Saturday, Sunday and holiday work. All labor employed on this project shall be paid no less than such minimum rates of wages. These wage rates are available for inspection at the office of the Equal Opportunity Management Department of the San Diego Unified Port District.
It is the policy of the San Diego Unified Port District that certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) shall have the maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of District Contracts. Certified DBEs with qualifying experience are encouraged to respond to the request for proposals/bids/quotes, etc.
In the public interest, the District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any informality in a bid.
