SAN DIEGO UNIFIED PORT DISTRICT
NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A
MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION FOR THE
TAMT SHORE POWER PROJECT (UPD# MND-2012-20)
Notice is hereby given that the San Diego Unified Port District (SDUPD)
, as lead agency under CEQA, has prepared and plans to adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal (TAMT) Shore Power Project (Project). The Project includes the installation of shore power equipment at the TAMT so that berthing cargo ships can use electrical power from the shore rather than from their own diesel engines. A total of 5,300 ft. of trenching would occur and 6,400 ft. of cable would be installed on the TAMT. The Project footprint totals approx. 9,600 sq. ft. Construction would begin in early 2013 and would take approx. 7 months to complete. The Draft MND finds that the Project, with mitigation measures incorporated, would not result in significant adverse impacts to the environment. The Draft MND is available for public review in the SDUPD Office of the District Clerk, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101, San Diego Downtown Central Library, 820 E St., San Diego CA 92101, or can be viewed online at www.portofsandiego.org
. A copy of the Draft MND may be obtained by contacting the SDUPD ELUM Department at (619) 686-6283. The Draft MND 30-day public review period starts on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, and ends at 5:00 pm on Monday, November 26, 2012
. Comment letters stating specific environmental concerns with the Draft MND should be addressed to the San Diego Unified Port District, Attn: Shannon Vitale, Environmental and Land Use Management Department, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101.
