Bids will be opened in public at or about that hour at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California 92101. No bidder may withdraw a bid within sixty (60) days after the date set for opening bids.
Bid package may be picked up on or after December 10, 2008, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding District holidays, from the District's Print Shop, San Diego Unified Port District, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92112-0488 or by faxing your request to the Print Shop at (619) 686-6565, or download by visiting www.portofsandiego.org
It is the policy of the San Diego Unified Port District that certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) shall have the maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of District contracts. Certified SBEs with qualifying experience are encouraged to respond to the request for proposals/bids/quotes, etc.
In the public interest, the District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any informality in a bid.

Notice is hereby given that the Procurement Services Department, First Floor, of the San Diego Unified Port District will receive sealed bids at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, until 2:00 P.M. on the 8th day of January 2009 for:

TIDELANDS, VARIOUS LOCATIONS
PREVENTATIVE PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE FY2009
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

Work includes furnishing all labor, materials and equipments necessary to reconstruct full depth AC pavement, mill and replace AC pavement, install traffic control, seal cracks and apply slurry seal to AC pavement, remove tree roots in damaged AC pavement, replace pavement striping and markings, and other related incidental items of work as shown on the drawings and as specified in the specifications. The proposed work is located at the following Tidelands locations in the City of San Diego: Shelter Island Parking Lot No. 2, Harbor Police Headquarters Parking Lot and Back Entrance, G Street Mole Parking Lot and Entrance, Pacific Highway @ Seaport Village, Convention Way , Spanish Landing East Parking Lot , Cesar E. Chavez Parkway (formerly Crosby Street) , Water Street Parking Lot.
The magnitude of this work is in the range of $402,500.00.
The bidder must possess a valid California State Contractors License, Classification A or C-12 at the time the contract is submitted.
Bids will be opened in public at or about that hour at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, all as more particularly contained in Document No. 54204 on file in the office of the Clerk of the District. No Bidder may withdraw a bid after the date set for bid opening.
A pre-bid conference will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on December 18, 2008, in the Administration Training Room at the District Administration Building.
Plans and specifications are available for download on Port of San Diego website, www.portofsandiego.org. Plans and specifications may also be purchased for $40.00 per each set on or about December 10, 2008, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding District holidays, from Corporate Services Print Shop, San Diego Unified Port District, P.O. Box 120488, San Diego, CA 92112-0488, or picked up in person at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, Telephone Number (619) 686-6320. Shipment of plans and specifications by Federal Express is available at Bidder's expense (please provide a completed airbill with your request). The purchase price and cost of shipment are not refundable. One set of plans and specifications will be made available by the District to local plan file services.
In accordance with the provisions of the California State Labor Code, the District has obtained the general prevailing rate of wages (which rate includes employer payments for health and welfare, vacation, pension and similar purposes) applicable to the work to be done, for straight time, overtime, Saturday, Sunday and holiday work. All labor employed on this project shall be paid no less than such minimum rates of wages. These wage rates are available for inspection at the office of the Procurement Services Department of the San Diego Unified Port District.

Bidder shall file the bonds as required by the Contract and Civil Code section 3247. The provisions of Public Contract Code section 22300 apply to this Contract.
