NOTICE INVITING BIDS
The City of Del Mar, OWNER, invites sealed bids for:
Del Mar Fire Department Wildfire Hazard
Reduction Project Ð Crest Canyon
Provide wildfire Hazard Reduction services in the Crest Canyon on approximately 63 lots in the City of Del Mar. Appendix A contains a tabular list as well as schematic maps showing the approximate location of lots and activities to be completed as a part of this project. Bid packages are available from Scantech, Inc. located at 7150 Engineer Road, San Diego, CA 92111 at (858) 495-0727 for the non-refundable cost of printing.
RECEIPT AND OPENING OF PROPOSALS: Sealed proposals will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City of Del Mar, located at 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, California, until 2:00 p.m., December 27, 2005, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud at said office. Mailed bids will be addressed to: City Clerk, DEL MAR FIRE DEPARTMENT WILDFIRE HAZARD REDUCTION PROJECT --CREST CANYON, 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, California 92014 and must be received by bid closing.
MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE: All contractors wishing to bid on this must attend a mandatory pre-bid conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2005 in the Del Mar City Hall Annex located at 235 11th Street, Del Mar, CA 92014. After a brief orientation to the project, attendees will be taken on a tour of key parcels in order to better understand the scope of the work. As the parcels are privately owned and generally serve as back yards for private residences, Contractors are prohibited from visiting the individual parcels at any other time than the pre-bid conference. The City will not accept bids from Contractors who failed to attend the mandatory pre-bid conference.
COMPLETION OF WORK: All WORK must be completed within 40 working days after the commencement date stated in the Notice to Proceed.
BID SECURITY: Bid Security shall accompany the bid in the form of a certified or cashier's check, or a Bid Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of ten percent of the total bid amount.
PERFORMANCE AND PAYMENT BONDS: The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Payment Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of fifty percent, and a Performance Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of one hundred percent of the contract amount.
WAGE RATES: Prevailing wage rate for the locality in which the WORK is to be performed and the construction activity applies to this contract. Not less than these rates shall be paid to all workers employed on the project.
CONTRACTOR'S LICENSING LAWS: Attention is directed to the CONTRACTOR's License Law concerning the licensing of CONTRACTORS. CONTRACTORS are required to be licensed and regulated by the CONTRACTOR's State License Board as a Class C-27. CONTRACTOR shall also obtain a City of Del Mar business license.
PROJECT ADMINISTRATION: All questions relative to this project prior to the opening of bids shall be directed to the FIRE DEPARTMENT, for the project listed. It shall be understood, however that no specification interpretations will be made by telephone, nor will any "or equal" products be considered prior to the bid opening. Project Description: The project SOUTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL- 600 MODERNIZATION consists of a remodel of one classroom building.. The Work includes, but not limited to the following bid packages: 1A- Interior/Exterior Construction consisting of final clean, concrete, miscellaneous steel, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, doors, frames & hardware, windows and glazing, Drywall/Stucco & Interior finishes, flooring, painting, specialties & signage. Package 2A- Demolition/ACM & Lead Abatement. 7A- Roofing, Flashing & Skylights. 15A- Mechanical, Plumbing & HVAC. 16A- Electrical & Low Voltage.
Pre-Bid Requirements: Mandatory Pre-bid meeting/walk on December 1, 2005 at 2:00pm or December 7, 2005 at 2:00pm or December 13, 2005 at 2:00pm, meet at the Swinerton Construction Trailer off 27th street at the school site. It is only necessary to attend one job walk.
