Notice is hereby given that the Purchasing Department, First Floor, of the San Diego Unified Port District will receive sealed bids at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, until 10:00 AM on the 15th day of January 2004 for:
Spec. No. 2003-41 - Drawing No. 1886

The work includes disconnecting, removing and disposing of existing light fixtures (four fixtures per pole, total forty fixtures); disconnecting and removing wires from existing pull box to the panel and fixtures; disconnecting, removing and disposing existing lighting panels; rewiring the existing fire alarm equipment on two poles (Poles Number 6 & 8); rewiring sewer pump disconnect switch; installing and rewiring new NEMA 4X panels on each pole for lights; furnishing, installing and rewiring new light fixtures as shown on the drawings and as specified in these specifications. The work also includes removing and disposing of asbestos-containing materials in the existing light fixtures. The work is located on National City Marine Terminal, National City, California.
The magnitude of this work is in the range of $100,000.00
The bidder must possess a valid California State Contractors License, Classification A or C-10 at the time the contract is submitted.
Bids will be opened in public at or about that hour at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, all as more particularly contained in Document No. 46745 on file in the office of the Clerk of the District. No Bidder may withdraw a bid within sixty (60) days after the date set for the opening of bids.
A pre-bid conference will be conducted at 10:00 AM on December 16, 2003, in Conference Room #4 at the District Administration Building. At the end of the conference, interested parties may visit the job site or, if indicated in the Special Conditions, make an appointment to visit the site. The District?s representative will be present at the pre-bid conference to receive questions. An addendum will be issued, if necessary to respond to questions raised. This will be the only job site tour given, please ensure your attendance. Failure to visit the job site shall be grounds for denial of claims for changed conditions.
Plans and specifications are available for download on Port of San Diego website, Plans and specifications are available at no charge, on or about December 5, 2003, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding District holidays, from the Purchasing Department, San Diego Unified Port District, P.O. Box 120488, San Diego, CA 92112-0488, or picked up in person at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, Telephone Number (619) 686-6320. Shipment of plans and specifications by Federal Express is available at Bidder?s expense (please provide a completed air bill with your request). The purchase price and cost of shipment are not refundable. The District will make one set of plans and specifications available to local plan file services.
In accordance with the provisions of the California State labor Code; the District has obtained the general prevailing rate of wages (which rate includes employer payments for health and welfare, vacation, pension and similar purposes) applicable to the work to be done, for straight time, overtime, Saturday, Sunday and holiday work. All labor employed on this project shall be paid no less than such minimum rates of wages. These wage rates are available for inspection at the office of the Equal Opportunity Management Department of the San Diego Unified Port District.
It is the policy of the San Diego Unified Port District that certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) shall have the maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of District Contracts. The SBE participation goal for this proposal/bid/quote is TEN PERCENT (10%). Certified SBEs with qualifying experience are encouraged to respond to the request for proposals/bids/quotes, etc.
Bidder shall file any bond as required by the Contract and Civil Code section 3247. The provisions of Public Contract Code section 22300 apply to this Contract.
Bidders are hereby notified that the successful Bidder will be required to provide insurance in accordance with Section 1C-6.1, "Contractor?s Insurance," of the General Conditions.
In the public interest, the District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any informality in a bid.
