The County of San Diego, Owner, invites sealed bids for CONSTRUCTION OF THE FORMER ALPINE II BURN DUMP MITIGATION PLAN; PROJECT No. 1003344; (BID No. 3467).
Sealed bids will be received at the Office of Purchasing and Contracting, 10089 Willow Creek Road, Suite 150, San Diego, California, 92131, until 2:00 p.m. on DECEMBER 18, 2008, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. A site inspection of the construction area at the Former Alpine II Burn Dump site is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 4th, 2008. Contractors are to assemble at the site entrance, located on Chocolate Summit Drive, approximately 0.6 miles east of Dunbar Lane, in the vicinity of Alpine (Thomas Guide 1233, F3). Inspection of the project construction area at any other time after December 4th, 2008, must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance with Jason Forga, Site Engineer by calling (858) 495-5470. No inspections will be conducted prior to December 4th, 2008. Contract documents will be available after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 and may be examined or purchased for the sum of $25.00 (including tax) per set at the Office of Purchasing and Contracting, 10089 Willow Creek Road, Suite 150, San Diego, CA 92131. The Contractor shall possess, at the time of submitting the bid, a California contractor's license, Classification A, General Engineering Contractor, or Classification C-12, Earthwork and Paving Contractor. The contractor or subcontractor will require Hazardous Substance Removal Certification (HAZ). The cost of construction is estimated to be from $600,000 to $680,000. Bid security of no less than 10% required at time of bid. Successful bidder shall provide Payment and Performance Bonds for 100% of the contract amount. Prevailing Wage rates apply. A Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise (DVBE) goal of three percent (3%) has been established for this project. Proposals must be received by the Water Authority on or before 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Copies of the solicitation document can be picked up at the Water Authority's San Diego Office, 4677 Overland Avenue, San Diego, CA 92123 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Water Authority offices are closed every other Friday. Please call (858) 522-6600 to confirm Friday schedule. The bid document may also or may be viewed upon registration with The Network, the Water Authority's free online vendor system, at www.sdcwa.org/register.html.
