NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS CALLING FOR BIDS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Palomar Community College District of San Diego County, California, acting by and through its Governing Board, hereinafter referred to as the DISTRICT will receive up to, but not later than 3:00 PM, on the 3rd day of March, 2008, sealed bids for the award of a contract for:

NS Building Dean/Adjunct Area Renovations &
IS ROOM (NS BLDG) HVAC UPGRADE

The project will consist of the renovation of a portion of the NS Building on the first floor north into a Dean and Adjunct Faculty office area and modifications to room NS 145 to convert it into a conference room as well as providing an independent cooling system for each of the 6 IS rooms located throughout the NS Building.
Bids shall be received in the office of Contract Services (Room A-10) of Owner at 1140 West Mission Road, San Marcos, CA 92069, and shall be opened and publicly read aloud at the above-stated time and place.
A mandatory pre-bid conference shall be held on February 20, 2008 at 9:00 am at the RS-Bldg., Room 5, on the San Marcos campus, 1140 West Mission Road, San Marcos, CA 92069. Any bid submitted by a Bidder who does not attend the mandatory pre-bid conference shall be considered a non-responsive bid.
Each bidder shall be a licensed contractor pursuant to the Business and Professions Code and shall be licensed in the following appropriate classification of contractor's license, for the work bid upon, and must maintain the license throughout the duration of the Contract: B-General Building Contractor.

Plans for this bid may be purchased at A/E Scantech, 7150 Engineer Road, San Diego, CA 92111 or contact Scantech at (858) 495-0727. Plans are also available for viewing at the District's Facilities office located at 1140 West Mission Road, Bldg. RS, San Marcos, CA 92069. Bidders must make an appointment to view plans by contacting Ms. Donna Renner, Facilities at (760) 744-1150, Ext. 3020.
Each bid shall conform and be responsive to the bid plans, specifications and bid documents. Each bid submittal shall be accompanied by bid security in the form of cash, cashier's check, certified check, or bidder's bond executed by an admitted surety insurer, and made payable to the Palomar Community College District, in the face amount of ten percent (10%) of the contract amount.
Pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 10126 (c) (2) the District declares that the following method shall be used to determine the lowest, responsive bidder on the project: lowest, total bid for the combined total of Bid Items # 1 and # 2.
The Director of Industrial Relations has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker needed to execute the Contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder, copies of which are available online at http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlsr. A copy of these rates shall be posted by the successful bidder at the job site. The successful bidder, and all subcontractor(s) under him, shall comply with all applicable Labor Code provisions, which include, but are not limited to the payment of not less than the required prevailing rates to all workers employed by them in the execution of the Contract, the employment of apprentices, the hours of labor and the debarment of contractors and subcontractors.
All bidders shall agree to obtain and maintain in full effect all required insurance with limits not less than the amounts indicated. Bidders who fail to comply with the insurance requirements of this contract may have their bids rejected as non-responsive at the election of the District.
The District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to accept or to reject any one or more items on a bid, or to waive any irregularities or informalities in the bids or in the bidding process.
No bidder may withdraw its bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date set for the opening of bids.

JULIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE - NOTICE INVITING BIDS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Julian Chamber Of Commerce will receive sealed bids for the award of contract for the furnishing of all labor, materials, transportation, equipment, and services for the following project: Julian Town Hall ADA Elevator - Handicapped Accessible lift and/Hoistway. (1) a handicapped accessible lift or elevator and/or (2) constuction of a hoistway and pit for the elevator/lift.  Project is located at the Julian Town Hall, Main St & Washington St, Julian, CA 92036.
Sealed bid packages shall be mailed to Julian Chamber of Comerece, Attn: Arlene Howe, PO Box 1866, Julian, CA 92036 no later than11:30 a.m. on February 29, 2008.
Each bid must conform and be responsive to the contract documents, copies of which may be obtained beginning February 12. Bidders will be required to comply with California Labor Code section 1410 et. The project is funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant Program, as administered by the County of San Diego. This is a federally funded affirmative action program. Bidders shall comply with all applicable Federal requirements including Federal Prevailing Wage Rate criteria and Statutes of the Federal Labor Standards provisions HUD-4010. It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay not less than the specified rates to all workers employed by them in the execution of the contract.
A bidder and all subcontractors shall be required at the time of submission of the bid to be licensed as a contractor by the State of California to do the type of work required under the contract documents.
Disabled Veterans Business Enterprises, and Minority/Women Business Enterprises Companies' participation in the bidding process is encouraged for this contract. Bidders are required to assure that every effort is made to the greatest extent feasible to provide Economic Opportunities for Low and Very Low Income Persons to comply with the Section 3 HUD Act of 1968.
