NOTICE INVITING BIDS

The City of Del Mar, OWNER, invites sealed bids for:
CONSTRUCTION OF 2003 STREET, SIDEWALK, AND DRAINAGE
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

RECEIPT AND OPENING OF PROPOSALS: Sealed proposals will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City of Del Mar, located at 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, California, 92014, until 2:00 p.m. on April 1, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud at said office.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The WORK to be done in general, consists of: the construction of drainage improvements that include a storm drain cleanout, 15 and 18-inch PVC storm drain pipes, 4" AC berm, cross gutter, and percolation pits; the reconstruction of existing brow ditch; the removal of a headwall and swale/fill area; and the removal and replacement of AC paving and deteriorated curb and gutter at various locations throughout the City, and the construction of new sidewalk and cross gutters.
SITE OF WORK:
The site of the WORK is at various locations in the City of Del Mar, California.
COMPLETION OF WORK:
All WORK must be completed within 75 working days after the commencement date stated in the Notice to Proceed.
OBTAINING CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS
:
Contract document books, contain-ing proposal forms, agreement, specifications, and reduced drawings, may be obtained starting March 10, 2002 from Scantech, Inc. located at 7283-H Engineer Road, San Diego, CA 92111 at (858) 495-0727 for the non-refundable cost of printing. The scale of the reduced drawings is about one-half of the original scale. If full-scale drawings are desired they may be purchased from Scantech at reproduction cost.
BID SECURITY: Bid Security shall accompany the bid in the form of a certified or cashier's check, or a Bid Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of ten percent of the total bid amount.
PERFORMANCE AND
PAYMENT BONDS
:
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Payment Bond & Performance Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of one hundred percent of the contract amount.
WAGE RATES:
Director of the Department of Industrial Relations said Director's general prevailing wage determination for the locality in which the WORK is to be performed. Not less than these rates shall be paid to all workers employed on the project.
CONTRACTOR'S LICENSING LAWS: CONTRACTOR?s are required to be licensed and regulated by the CONTRACTOR's State License Board.
WITHDRAWAL: Withdrawal of bids shall not be permitted for a period of seventy-five (75) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
PROJECT ADMINISTRATION:
All questions relative to this project prior to the opening of bids shall be directed to the ENGINEER for the project listed below. It shall be understood, however that no specification interpretations will be made by telephone, nor will any "or equal" products be considered for approval prior to the bid opening.

The City of Del Mar, OWNER, invites sealed bids for:
NORTH TORREY PINES BRIDGE
BARRIER RAIL REPAIR PROJECT.

The City of Del Mar seeks a bid from your firm to repair the barrier rail of the North Torrey Pines bridge No. 57C-0207 (Sorrento Overhead) in the City of Del Mar. Bid packages are available without charge from the City Clerk at 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA. 92014. Work summary includes but is not limited to repair of concrete railing on the southeast end of the North Torrey Pines bridge located south of Carmel Valley Road.
RECEIPT AND OPENING OF PROPOSALS: Sealed proposals will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City of Del Mar, located at 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, California, until 2:00 p.m., April 2, 2002, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud at said office. Mailed bids will be addressed to: City Clerk (NORTH TORREY PINES BRIDGE - BARRIER RAIL REPAIR PROJECT), 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, California 92014 and must be received by bid closing.
OPINION OF PROBABLE CONSTRUCTION COST: The Public Works Director's opinion of probable construction cost for this project is approximately $20,000.00.
COMPLETION OF WORK: All WORK must be completed within 30 working days after the commencement date stated in the Notice to Proceed.
BID SECURITY: Bid Security shall accompany the bid in the form of a certified or cashier's check, or a Bid Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of ten percent of the total bid amount.
PERFORMANCE AND PAYMENT BONDS: The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Payment Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of fifty percent, and a Performance Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of one hundred percent of the contract amount.
WAGE RATES: Prevailing wage rate for the locality in which the WORK is to be performed and the construction activity applies to this contract. Not less than these rates shall be paid to all workers employed on the project.
CONTRACTOR'S LICENSING LAWS: Attention is directed to the CONTRACTOR's License Law concerning the licensing of CONTRACTORS. CONTRACTORS are required to be licensed and regulated by the CONTRACTOR's State License Board. CONTRACTOR shall also obtain a City of Del Mar business license.
PROJECT ADMINISTRATION: All questions relative to this project prior to the opening of bids shall be directed to David Scherer, Public Works Director, for the project listed. It shall be understood, however that no specification interpretations will be made by telephone. Questions shall be in writing and delivered to 2240 Jimmy Durante Boulevard by hand or by FAX addressed to Public Works Director at (858) 481-0254.
