NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS CALLING FOR BIDS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the CARLSBAD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT of San Diego County, California, acting by and through its Governing Board, hereinafter referred to as the District, will receive up to, but not later than the respective dates and times indicated below, sealed bids for furnishing all labor, material, equipment, transportation and services for:

Bids shall be received in the Purchasing Department of the CARLSBAD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT at 6225 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009, and shall be opened and publicly read aloud at the above stated time and place. Each bid must conform and be responsive to the contract documents, copies of which are on file and open to public inspection in the Purchasing Department of the CARLSBAD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT at the above address. Each bid shall be accompanied by Bid Bond in the amount of 10% of the bid amount.

All bidders will meet at the Purchasing Department, Carlsbad Unified School District, 6225 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009 on the date and time specified. Interested bidders shall call (760) 331-5063 in advance to confirm attendance at the walk-through.
FAILURE TO ATTEND THE WALK-THROUGH WILL BE CONSIDERED NON-RESPONSIVE AND ANY BID SUBMITTED WILL BE REJECTED.
Each bidder shall be a licensed contractor pursuant to the Business and Professions Code.
The CARLSBAD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this Notice, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, gender, or national origin in consideration for an award.
Bidders are hereby notified that pursuant to the statutes of the State of California, the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this type of work is to be performed for
each craft or type of worker needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder. Copies of the prevailing rate of per diem wages are on file and open to public inspection in the Purchasing Department of the CARLSBAD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT at the above address and on the government web page:
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom this contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the said specified rates to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract, and to post at the site, a copy of the prevailing rate of per diem wages.
The District reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities or informalities in any bids or in the bidding.
No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of ninety (90) days after the date set for the opening of the bids.

NOTICE INVITING BIDS
The City of Del Mar, OWNER, invites sealed bids for:
CONSTRUCTION OF THE CAMINO DEL MAR PEDESTRIAN
IMPROVEMENTS AT 25TH AND 29TH STREET PROJECT
RECEIPT AND OPENING OF PROPOSALS: Sealed proposals will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City of Del Mar, located at 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, California, 92014, until 10:00 a.m. on April 1, 2005 at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud at said office.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The WORK to be done in general, consists of: construction of sidewalks, retaining wall, curb & gutter, storm drain, catch basins, pedestrian ramps, adjustment of grades, installation of activated LED lighted crosswalk system, removal and replacement of asphalt pavement, and striping.
COMPLETION OF WORK: All WORK must be completed within 40 working days after the commencement date stated in the Notice to Proceed. Intermediate completion times and black out dates are noted in the General Conditions.
MANDATORY PRE-CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE: A MANDATORY pre-construction conference will be required. The date, time and location of the pre-construction meeting will be determined after award of the contract.
OBTAINING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS: Contract document books, contain-ing proposal forms, agreement, specifications, and reduced drawings, may be obtained starting March 15, 2005 from Scantech, Inc. located at 7150 Engineer Road, San Diego, CA 92111 at (858) 495-0727 for the non-refundable cost of printing. The scale of the reduced drawings is about one-half of the original scale. If full-scale drawings are desired they may be purchased from Scantech at reproduction cost.
BID SECURITY: Bid Security shall accompany the bid in the form of a certified or cashier's check, or a Bid Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of ten percent of the total bid amount.
PERFORMANCE AND PAYMENT BONDS: The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Payment Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of one hundred percent, and a Performance Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of one hundred percent of the contract amount.
WAGE RATES: Pursuant to Section 1773 of the Labor Code, the general prevailing wage rates in the county in which the work is to be done have been determined by the Director of the California Department of Industrial Relations. These wages are set forth in the General Prevailing Wage Rates for this project, available at City of Del Mar address and available from the California Department of Industrial RelationsÕ Internet web site at http://www.dir.ca.gov.
CONTRACTOR'S LICENSING LAWS: Attention is directed to the CONTRACTOR's License Law concerning the licensing of CONTRACTORÕs. CONTRACTORÕs are required to be licensed and regulated by the CONTRACTOR's State License Board.
WITHDRAWAL: Withdrawal of bids shall not be permitted for a period of seventy-five (75) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
RETAINAGE FROM PAYMENTS: Monies withheld by the OWNER to ensure performance under the contract may be released in accordance with Government Code Section 4590 and these contract documents.
PROJECT ADMINISTRATION: All questions relative to this project prior to the opening of bids shall be directed to the ENGINEER for the project listed below. It shall be understood, however that no specification interpretations will be made by telephone, nor will any "or equal" products be considered for approval prior to the bid opening.
