The project consists of providing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to construct/erect mow curbs, sidewalk, playground resilient surfacing, a swing set and local reconfiguring of the irrigation system. The Contractor shall verify all controlling field dimensions before ordering or fabricating any material. The work is located at the Cesar Chavez Park 1843 Water Street, San Diego, California 92113.
The magnitude of this work is in the range of $76,500.00 - $103,500.00.
The bidder must possess a valid California State Contractors License; Classification A OR B at the time the contract is submitted.
Bids will be opened in public at or about that hour at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, all as more particularly contained in Document No. 52998 on file in the office of the Clerk of the District. No Bidder may withdraw a bid after the date set for bid opening.
A pre-bid conference will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on April 7, 2008, in Conference Room 2 at the District Administration Building. At the end of the conference, interested parties may visit the job site or, if indicated in the Supplementary Requirements, make an appointment to visit the site. The District's representative will be present at the pre-bid conference to receive questions. An addendum will be issued, if necessary, to respond to questions raised. This will be the only job site tour given, please ensure your attendance. Failure to visit the job site shall be grounds for denial of claims for changed conditions.

Plans and specifications may also be purchased for $20.00 per each set on or about March 24, 2008 during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding District holidays, from Corporate Services Print Shop, San Diego Unified Port District, P.O. Box 120488, San Diego, CA 92112-0488, or picked up in person at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, Telephone Number (619) 686-6320. Shipment of plans and specifications by Federal Express is available at Bidder's expense (please provide a completed airbill with your request). The purchase price and cost of shipment are not refundable. The District will make one set of plans and specifications available to local plan file services.
In accordance with the provisions of the California State Labor Code, the District has obtained the general prevailing rate of wages (which rate includes employer payments for health and welfare, vacation, pension and similar purposes) applicable to the work to be done, for straight time, overtime, Saturday, Sunday and holiday work. All labor employed on this project shall be paid no less than such minimum rates of wages. These wage rates are available for inspection at the office of the Equal Opportunity Management Department of the San Diego Unified Port District.
It is the policy of the San Diego Unified Port District that certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) shall have the maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of District Contracts. Certified SBEs with qualifying experience are encouraged to respond to the request for proposals/bids/quotes, etc.
Bidder shall file the bonds as required by the Contract and Civil Code section 3247. The provisions of Public Contract Code section 22300 apply to this Contract.
Bidders are hereby notified that the successful Bidder will be required to provide insurance in accordance with Subsection 5.6.1, Contractor's Insurance, of the Section 5.0.
A Notification Regarding Environmental Conditions has been included as Exhibit A in the project specifications. This notification will serve as the District's disclosure regarding potential hazardous materials that may be encountered during grading, excavation, trenching, and/or other ground penetration.
In the public interest, the District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any informality in a bid.
