Notice is hereby given that the Board of Education of the San Diego Unified School District, acting by and through its governing board, will receive sealed bids for the furnishing of all labor, materials, transportation, equipment and services to FURNISH AND INSTALL LUNCH COURT SHELTERS AT FOUR DISTRICT SCHOOL SITES.
Construction cost estimate is $1.3 million.
As a condition of bidding and in accordance with the provisions of Section 20111.5 of the California Public Contract Code, the District is requiring prequalification of all bidders wishing to submit bids on this project. Bidders must prequalify for a minimum of $1.3 million.
Prospective bidders are required to submit a completed prequalification questionnaire supplied by the district. Bids will not be accepted from bidders who do not have an approved prequalification statement on file with the District. Prequalification packages are now available at the Maintenance and Operations Center-main building, 4860 Ruffner Street, San Diego, CA 92111. Prequalification packages are due on or before 12:00 noon, on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. Late submittals will not be accepted.
Each bidder shall be a licensed contractor pursuant to the Business and Professional Code and shall be licensed in the following classification: B
As a material requirement of the contract, mandatory site visits will be held as follows: Thursday, March 31, 2005, at 8:00 a.m., in front of the main office, at Baker Elementary School, 4041 "T" Street, San Diego, CA 92113 and upon completion will proceed to three additional school sites.
Bidders failing to attend each site visit will not be allowed to submit a bid.
All bids will be received by the Maintenance and Operations Center, Acquisition and Asset Management Office-main building, at 4860 Ruffner Street, San Diego, CA 92111, up to, but no later than, 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Each bid must conform and be responsive to the bid/contract documents.
Copies of the documents may be obtained at the Maintenance and Operations Center, 4860 Ruffner Street, San Diego, CA 92111, telephone number (858) 573-5755, beginning Thursday, March 24, 2005, by depositing $100 for each set. Checks for deposit will be required, made payable to the San Diego Unified School District. This deposit is refundable according to the conditions outlined in the bid documents.
WAGES: The Director of the Department of Industrial Relations has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this public work is to be performed for each craft, classification, or type of worker needed to execute the contract. Copies of that determination are available at the DistrictÕs Labor Compliance Office for interested parties upon request.
Each bid shall be accompanied by a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and Surety Company, or certified check, or cashierÕs check in favor of the San Diego Unified School District, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid. Said Bid Bond shall be given as guarantee that the bidder will execute the contract submittals requirements as specified, within five (5) working days after written notification of pending award of the contract to bidder.
The District reserves the right to reject any and all bid proposals, to contract work with whomever and in whatever manner the District decides, to abandon the work entirely, and to waive any informality or nonsubstantive irregularity as the interests of the District may require. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of 90 days after the date set for the opening of bids. For information regarding prequalification or bidding, please call (858) 627-7106.

The San Diego Unified School District will receive sealed bids for furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, and services for:
RENOVATE FOOTBALL FIELDS AT FOUR DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOLS.
Mandatory site visit is scheduled for Thursday, March 31, 2005, starting at 9:00 a.m., at Crawford High, 4191 Colts Way, San Diego, CA 92115, and proceeding to 3 additional sites.

Bids will be received by the District at the Maintenance and Operations Center, 4860 Ruffner Street, San Diego, California 92111, on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at which time the bids will be opened and publicly read aloud. Each bid shall be in accordance with specifications, plans, and other contract documents now on file at the Contracts Management Office. Each bid shall be submitted on a bid form furnished by the District. Bid forms and other pertinent documents may be obtained from the District Contracts Management Office between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Bid documents will not be faxed.
Bidders are hereby notified that pursuant to the statutes of the State of California, the director of the Department of Industrial Relations has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this type of work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder.
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom this contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the said specified rates to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract.
The San Diego Unified School District reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to accept or reject any one or more items of any bid, or to waive any irregularities, or informalities in the bids, or in the bidding.
Attention is called to the fact that a list of proposed subcontractors must be submitted with the bid.
No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of ninety (90) days after the date and time set for the opening of bids.
