A draft Port Master Plan amendment has been prepared for San Diego Unified Port District (District) lands in Planning District 7, Chula Vista Bayfront. The draft Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan (CVBMP) amendment will allow for the implementation of the proposed master plan on District tidelands. The approximately 556-acre master plan area is located west of Interstate 5 in the City of Chula Vista, CA, under both the District and the City of Chula Vista planning jurisdictions.
The draft amendment proposes changes to land and water use designations to accommodate the redevelopment of the Sweetwater, Harbor, and Otay Districts with a variety of uses such as: park, open space, ecological buffers, cultural, recreational, hotel and conference space, mixed use office/commercial recreation, and retail. The CVBMP also includes proposed in-water uses, including: a reconfigured marina basin and boat slips, a new commercial harbor, and realignment of the existing navigation channel.
The amendment will be considered for adoption, with or without modification, by the Board of Port Commissioners following a public hearing to be held during a Special Joint Meeting beginning at 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in the City of Chula Vista Council Chambers, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA 91910.
Additional hearing dates, if required, will be announced at the public hearing.
A companion document, the Final Environmental Impact Report for the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan and Port Master Plan Amendment, is being prepared and will also be considered by the Board of Port Commissioners for certification on May 18, 2010.
