The San Diego Unified School District will receive sealed bids for furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and transportation for:

Under Public Contract Code 3400 (b), the District has made a finding that the following particular materials, products, things, or services are designated by specific brand or trade name in order to match other products in use on the particular public improvement either completed or in the course of completion:

The project estimate range is from $5,346,600 to $8,723,400. Prequalification for this project has been waived. The District requires that Bidders possess any of the following classification(s) of California State Contractors License(s) at the time of bid opening and contract award, valid and in good standing: B.
All bids will must be received at: Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Department, 2351 Cardinal Lane, Bldg. M, San Diego, CA 92123, at or before 2:00 p.m. on May 6, 2010 at which time bids will be opened and publicly read aloud. All late bids shall be deemed non-responsive and not opened. Each bid shall be in accordance with specifications, plans, and other contract documents now on file at the Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Department. Each bid shall be submitted on bid forms furnished by the District. Bid forms and other pertinent documents may be obtained from C2 Reprographics, 4920 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121, telephone number (858) 535-0607, beginning Wednesday, April 13, 2010. A deposit of $200.00 for each bid set is required. Checks for deposit will be required, made payable to the San Diego Unified School District. This deposit is refundable according to the conditions outlined in the bid documents. Contractors may purchase CD's for $50 (non-refundable check only). Bid documents will not be faxed.
LABOR COMPLIANCE NOTICE: San Diego Unified School District operates an Approved Labor Compliance Program. Under this program the District, in part, will review and audit payroll records to verify compliance with labor laws and shall have the right to delay and/or withhold payments and enforce penalties for non-compliance. WAGES: The Director of the Department of Industrial Relations has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this public work is to be performed for each craft, classification, or type of worker needed to execute the contract. Copies of that determination are available at the District's Labor Compliance Office for interested parties upon request. It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom this contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the said specified rates to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract.
PROJECT STABILIZATION AGREEMENT (PSA): This project is subject to the Project Stabilization Agreement (PSA) adopted by the Board of Education on July 28, 2009. The complete agreement is available for viewing and downloading at
DISABLED VETERAN BUSINESS ENTERPRISE PARTICIPATION PROGRAM: Pursuant to California Education Code §§17070.10, et seq., and §17076.11, the District is required to satisfy a contract participation goal for Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises of at least three percent (3%) in its overall-contracting program per year. In compliance with this Program, the Contractor shall satisfy all requirements enumerated in the Contract Documents.
Each bid shall be submitted on the bid forms provided in the bid documents. Each bid shall be accompanied by a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and Surety Company, certified check, or cashier's check in favor of the San Diego Unified School District, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid. Said Bid Bond shall be given to guarantee that the bidder will execute the contract as specified, within five (5) working days after the notification of the award of the contract to bidder.
Attention is called to the fact that a list of proposed subcontractors must be submitted with the bid.
The District reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularities or informalities in any bids or in the bidding. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of 90 days after the date set for the opening of bids.

The San Diego Unified School District (“District”) is soliciting written proposals from qualified firms, individuals, or professional organizations to provide health and safety review and inspection at District school construction sites. Specifically, the purpose of this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is to furnish the District with a provider that specializes in school safety and industrial hygiene to ensure requirements mandated by governmental agencies and Board of Education policies are met. This includes, but is not limited to, health and safety inspections, accident investigations, identification of existing and predictable hazards that may affect students and staff at District construction sites, and review and evaluation of site safety programs and health plans provided by general contractors and subcontractors working on District projects.
On November 4, 2008, the voters of San Diego County passed a $2.1 billion general obligation bond measure, Proposition “S” (“Prop. S”). It is anticipated that the services will comprise up to 500 hours per year in support of the District's Prop S program and associated projects. If selected, the firm(s) must be able to respond quickly to District needs.
Proposals from small businesses, minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, disabled veteran-owned businesses, and local firms are encouraged. The District also seeks to promote employment and business opportunities for local residents and firms on all contracts as such opportunities may occur and to the extent legally possible. Interested responders are encouraged to solicit applications for subcontracts for work associated with this document from qualified residents and firms located within District boundaries.
