NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Two Public Hearings will be held by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), Transportation Committee on
May 30, 2008 and June 6, 2008
to receive comments on proposals to amend transit fares for North County Transit District (NCTD) and Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) services. Unless otherwise specified, all changes are proposed as amendments to SANDAG's Regional Comprehensive Fare Ordinance and would become effective on July 1, 2008.
Consideration is being given to:
Increasing the COASTER cash fare by $0.50 per zone for adult passengers in July with an additional increase of $0.50 on January 1, 2009
Increasing the COASTER monthly pass by $14 in July with an addition increase of $14 ($15 for Zone 1 passes) on January 1, 2009
Either increasing the price of an adult BREEZE/SPRINTER Day Pass to $4.50 or eliminating the BREEZE/SPRINTER Day Pass and selling only the Regional Day Pass at $5.00
Increasing the BREEZE/SPRINTER Senior/Disabled/Medicare Day Pass to $2.25
Increasing the BREEZE/SPRINTER monthly pass to $59.00 and the price of the college monthly pass by $5.00
Permitting LIFT passengers holding a valid North County Transit District Paratransit Reduced Fare Identification Card to ride the BREEZE, FAST, or SPRINTER without payment of any fare (personal care
attendants may ride free when accompanying a passenger with a Paratransit Reduced Fare Identification Card)
Increasing the price of the Premium Day Pass up to $14.00, and to extending the validity of the Premium Day Pass to include the COASTER
No longer allowing single ride or return COASTER tickets as valid transfers to any other transit service
Proposing a new fare of $1.00 for the Sorrento Valley Coaster Connection (SVCC) service ($0.50 for passengers with Senior/Disabled/Medicare identification
Introducing a COASTER monthly pass supplement of $40.00 for unlimited rides each month on the SVCC (Senior/Disabled/Medicare $10.00 and Youth $20.00)
Allow Holders of valid Premium Day Passes to ride the SVCC without add itional charge
Implementing an adult flat fare on the MTS Trolley of $2.25 or $2.50
Adjusting the geographic borders of the downtown San Diego zone
Fix fares for Complementary ADA services at double the price of fixed route service as permitted by federal regulation
Setting the Senior/Medicare/Disabled cash fares for all services operated by MTS and NCTD at 50% of the applicable cash adult fare
Creating a monthly Senior/Medicare/Disabled Premium Express pass to be priced at 25% of the Premium Express monthly pass
Making the following changes with the full implementation of the Compass Card:- Change the calendar month regional pass to a rolling 30 day pass valid for any 30 consecutive days
- Add an adult Regional Pass valid for 14 consecutive days
- Eliminate the existing half-month Regional Pass
