Portions of the above referenced brush management revisions to the Land Development Code are within the Coastal Overlay Zone and will constitute an amendment to the City of San DiegoÕs Local Coastal Program (LCP). If the City Council approves the amendment, the proposed LCP amendment must be submitted to the California Coastal Commission for review and adoption. The LCP amendment will not become effective until after adoption by the California Coastal Commission. This Notice of Availability opens a six-week public review period prior to any final action being taken by the City Council on the LCP amendment request.
Information on the Proposed Brush Management Revisions to the Land Development Code to replace the existing brush management zones with a City-wide 100 foot brush management area consisting of 35 feet of Zone One and 65 feet of Zone Two is available at the Development Services Department, 1222 First Avenue, Fifth Floor, San Diego, CA 92101. Applications are being accepted from emerging, local, small construction companies interested in participating in the (City of San DiegoÕs Mentor ProtŽgŽ Program). The Mentor ProtŽgŽ Program, in cooperation with the Associated General Contractors of San Diego, is a community-based effort involving leaders of major prime and subcontractor organizations, financial and bonding institutions, and several public agencies. The program is a deliberate effort to overcome barriers that typically inhibit or restrict the success of emerging construction companies and help these enterprises maximize their economic opportunities. The program is designed to produce a broad base of high quality, competitive and profitable construction companies through incremental improvement.
Selection is conducted through an application/interview process. To apply for participation, construction companies must meet the criteria listed below. Participation in the program begins only after the City of San Diego extends a formal offer of acceptance.
PARTICIPATION CRITERIA
¥ Company must be a construction prime or subcontractor desiring to perform public works.
¥ Company must have all appropriate licenses needed to perform
¥ Company must be in good standing (current with federal/state taxes, workerÕs
compensation, etc.).
¥ Company must have been in business operating continuously for the past two (2) years.
¥ Company must be an emerging local small company as defined in the program
guidelines.
¥ Company annual revenue must not be below $250,000, during the last three (3) years.
¥ Company must be willing to participate in accordance with the program rules, guidelines and processes for incremental growth and business success.
