Terminal 2 West Building and Airside Expansion
(Package 1)

Notice:
Only those prime Contractors and prime Architect & Engineer (A&E) firms who have received written confirmation on February 19, 2008, from the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (Authority) of being pre-qualified under the Authority's issued “Request For Qualifications - Contractor Pre-Qualifications and Architectural and Engineering Consultant Services for Design-Build Project Delivery Method,” (issued by the Authority on November 9, 2007), can submit in response to this “Call for Design-Build Technical Submissions (Package 1) - RFQ.
Purpose: The Authority is initiating this “Design-Build Technical Submissions (Package 1) - RFQ” to select a prime Design-Build Entity. The Entity is to be a combination of prime Contractor(s) and prime A&E(s) firms which have formed a team to respond to the Terminal 2 West Building Expansion and Airside Expansion.
The Terminal 2 West Building Expansion will consist of the addition of approximately 430,000 square feet of new public and nonpublic areas, providing ten (10) additional contact aircraft gates. The expansion is up to three stories including passenger circulation, airline check-in/ticket lobby, security screening, baggage handling, waiting areas, seating areas, concessions, restrooms, office spaces, and other related service/support areas. The architectural style and finishes of the building addition shall be aesthetically consistent with the existing Terminal.
The Airside Expansion consists of developing approximate area 1,500,000SF of concrete pavement and located west of Terminal 2 West. To include but not limited too: Aircraft Parking Aprons, Taxiways, and Taxi lanes that will serve the Terminal 2 West expansion.
Delivery Method: The Authority will only accept Submissions from those firms who have successfully pre-qualified under the Design-Build delivery method. Firms pre-qualified under Design-Bid-Build and Construction Manager at Risk delivery methods will not be considered. However, Firms pre-qualified under any delivery method are encouraged to participate as a subcontractor or subconsultant to the final selected prime firms. Selection of the subcontractors and subconsultant will be made following completion of the Prime Firm selection process.

The Terminal 2 Landside Modifications program incorporates the design and construction of access roadways, bridges, curbs, sidewalks, and crossing elements/signals leading to the airport terminals and parking facilities. Landside Modifications also include construction of employee surface parking areas, utility tunnels, and installation/modifications of underground utilities.
The Parking Structure program includes the design and construction of a 5-Story (ground level plus 4 levels above), 1.98 million square foot concrete Parking Structure contemplated to be approximately 1,300 feet long by 300 feet wide consisting of 4,960 parking spaces.
