NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
The County of San Diego, Owner, invites sealed bids for COUNTYWIDE 2011-2012 ASPHALT CONCRETE OVERLAY; PROJECT No. 1016226; (BID No. 5632).
Sealed bids will be received at the Office of Purchasing and Contracting, 10089 Willow Creek Road, Suite 150, San Diego, California, 92131, until 2:00 p.m. on JULY 18, 2012, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. Contract documents including Plans, Specifications and Bid Forms are available to be downloaded, free of charge, from the Department of Purchasing and Contracting BuyNet website at: http://buynet.sdcounty.ca.gov.
The Contractor shall possess, at the time of submitting the bid, a California contractor's license, Classification A, General Engineering Contractor, OR Classification C-12, Earthwork and Paving Contractor. Work to be done consists in general of placing asphalt concrete resurfacing on various roads and culvert replacement at various locations in the unincorporated areas of San Diego County. The work includes, but is not limited to, installing reinforced concrete pipe of various sizes, installing bituminous coated corrugated steel pipe arch of various sizes, installing perforated plastic pipe underdrain, constructing concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, cross gutter, driveway, curb ramp, headwalls, curb inlets and catch basin, installing rock slope protection, installing pavement reinforcing grid, placing asphalt concrete, replacing asphalt concrete surfacing, leveling asphalt concrete, placing asphalt concrete dike and asphaltic emulsion (fog seal), repairing distressed pavement, cold planing roadway surface, cleaning and sealing random cracks, adjusting manhole covers and survey monument riser rings, painting traffic stripes and pavement markings, constructing shoulder backing, installing pavement markers, installing video detection systems, reconstructing inductive loop detectors, providing portable changeable message sign, providing traffic control, preparing water pollution control program, and providing water pollution control. The project is located in various areas within the County of San Diego.
The cost of construction is estimated to be from $4,600,000 to $4,794,900. Bid security of no less than 10% required at time of bid. Successful bidder shall provide Payment and Performance Bonds for 100% of the contract amount. Prevailing Wage rates apply. DVBE participation goal of 3% is required.
