NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY
OF A DRAFT MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION
for the Shelter Pointe Hotel Expansion Project
Notice is hereby given that the San Diego Unified Port District (the Port) has prepared a Notice of Intent (NOI) to adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) that finds the following project has no significant effect on the environment. The project site is located at 1551 Shelter Island Drive, San Diego, CA, on the southwestern tip of Shelter Island. The project proposes the following site modifications to the existing Shelter Pointe Hotel Site on the land but not in the water: (1) relocating and renovating the existing hotel restaurant, AJ's Waterside Grille, within the existing hotel facility; (2) expanding and upgrading the existing restaurant space into a banquet room, adding approximately 4,000 square feet of meeting space; (3) constructing a new swimming pool near the existing pool located south of the main hotel building; (4) constructing two new three-story guest wings to the north of the existing hotel on the western portion of the existing surface parking lot; (5) constructing a new parking structure at the northern end of the project site with a subsurface basement level, three above-grade levels, 253 parking spaces, and attached marina and housekeeping facilities; and (6) planting ornamental landscaping around the perimeter of the parking structure and new guest wings consistent with existing vegetation.
The Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration is available for public review in the Office of the District Clerk, San Diego Unified Port District, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego; the San Diego Downtown Central Library, 820 E Street, San Diego; and the San Diego Public Library Point Loma Branch, 2130 Poinsettia Drive, San Diego.
