Notice is hereby given that the Grossmont Union High School District (“District”) has determined that all contractors undertaking projects valued at $2 Million or more requiring a license classification of B - General Contractor must be pre-qualified prior to submitting bids
Pre-qualification application packages are available on the District's website at Contractors may submit four times each year: (1) from January 1 through January 10; (2) from April 1 through April 10; (3) from July 1 through July 10; and (4) from October 1 through October 10 with a special submittal date of August 1 through August 15 2008. The District must receive applications before 4:00 p.m. on the last date of the time periods defined above or at least twenty-one (21) days prior to the scheduled bid opening on any advertised project in order for the candidate to qualify for that project. Pre-qualification approval will remain valid for one (1) calendar year from the date of notice of qualification except as noted in the pre-qualification documents.
The pre-qualification packages should be submitted under seal and marked “CONFIDENTIAL” to Pre-qualification Manager, Grossmont Unified School District Bond Trailer, 1100 Murray Drive, El Cajon , CA 92020. For questions call 619-644-8159.
The District reserves the right to waive minor irregularities and omissions in the information contained in the pre-qualification application submitted, to make all final determinations, and to determine at any time that the pre-qualification procedures will not be applied to a future public works project.
All information submitted for prequalification evaluation will be considered official Information acquired in confidence, and the District will maintain its confidentiality to the extent permitted by law.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the Sweetwater Union High School District, Chula Vista, CA, acting by and through its governing board, will receive sealed bids for the furnishing of all labor, materials, transportation, equipment, and services for:
Description of Work:
Site preparation for the sitting and installation of a 24' x 40' portable structure. Modifications to 20' X 40' portable structure will include architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical modifications. Portable structures will be craned into place by others.
Project Estimate: $150,000 to $250,000
Obtaining Bid Documents: Plans may be obtained after July 22, 2008 at the Printer, Universal Reprographics, 1747 Hancock St., Ste. E, San Diego, CA 92101 whose telephone number is 619-295-7882 as a “will call” to be paid by the contractor at their expense. For bidders wishing plans to be forwarded to them via UPS / Fed Ex, Universal Reprographics is also capable of providing these services. Bidders wishing to pick up documents shall notify the PRINTER and should telephone first to ensure an adequate number of sets are on hand.
Each bid shall be submitted in a sealed envelope bearing on the outside the name of the Bidder and name of the project for which the bid is submitted, accompanied by an acceptable form of security and filed with the District at the Purchasing Department, 1130 Fifth Avenue, Chula Vista, California 91911-2896 on or before August 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Bids received after this date shall be returned unopened. Bids will be opened and publicly read aloud on August 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
Each bid must conform and be responsive to the Contract Documents and all plans, specifications and any other documents pertaining to the Project, copies of which are now on file and may be obtained after July 22, 2008 at Universal Reprographics at the address listed above.
A mandatory job walk meeting has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m. July 31, 2008 to review the Project scope, bid requirements and the Project's existing conditions. The pre-bid meeting will take place at the existing NOC Facility, 455 Moss Street, Chula Vista, California 91911. Please call 619-691-5540 to confirm your attendance at this meeting. Representatives of the District, Construction Manager, Architect and consulting engineers will be in attendance to address any questions. All attendees shall report to the administration office.
Please note: It is imperative that all bidders attend this conference. Failure to attend the conference will disqualify the bidder from the bid process.
WAGES: The Director of the Department of Industrial Relations has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this public work is to be performed for each craft, classification, or type of worker needed to execute the contract. Copies of that determination are available on the Department of Industrial Relations' website at Any interested party may obtain a copy. The successful bidder shall post a copy thereof at each job site.
LABOR COMPLIANCE NOTICE: The District has implemented and shall enforce a Labor Compliance Program. Under this program the District, in part, will review and audit payroll records to verify compliance with labor laws and shall have the right to withhold payments and enforce penalties for non-compliance.
Each bid shall be submitted on the bid form provided in the bid documents. Each bid shall be accompanied by a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and Surety Company, or certified check, or cashier's check in favor of the Sweetwater Union High School District, or cash, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid. Said Bid Bond shall be given to guarantee that the bidder will execute the contract as specified.
The District reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularities or informalities in any bids or in the bidding. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period 60 days after the date set for the opening of bids. For information regarding bidding, please call (619)691-5540.
