The San Diego Unified School District will receive sealed bids for furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, and services for:
ADA IMPROVEMENTS AT MANN
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Mandatory site visit is scheduled for August 14, 2008, starting at 9:00 a.m., in front of the main office of Mann Middle School, 4345 54th Street, San Diego, CA, 92115.

The project estimate is between $800,000 and $1,000,000. The District requires that Bidders possess any of the following classification(s) of California Contractors License at the time that the Contract for Work is awarded: B or other appropriate license.
All bids must be received by Physical Plant Operations Center, Contract Management Office, 4860 Ruffner Street, San Diego, California 92111, up to, but no later than, 2:00 p.m. on August 28, 2008, at which time bids will be opened and publicly read aloud. All late bids shall be deemed non-responsive and not opened. Each bid shall be in accordance with specifications, plans, and other contract documents now on file at the Contracts Management Office. Each bid shall be submitted on a bid form furnished by the District. Bid forms and other pertinent documents may be obtained from Universal Reprographics, 1747 Hancock Street, Suite E, San Diego, CA 92101 telephone number (619) 295-7882, beginning August 5, 2008. A deposit of $100.00 for each bid set is required. Checks for deposit will be required, made payable to the San Diego Unified School District. This deposit is refundable according to the conditions outlined in the bid documents. Bid documents will not be faxed.
Bidders are hereby notified that pursuant to the statutes of the State of California, the director of the Department of Industrial Relations has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this type of work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder.
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom this contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the said specified rates to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract.
The San Diego Unified School District reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to accept or reject any one or more items of any bid, or to waive any irregularities, or informalities in the bids, or in the bidding.
Each bid shall be submitted on the bid form provided in the bid documents. Each bid shall be accompanied by a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and Surety Company, or certified check, or cashier's check in favor of the San Diego Unified School District, or cash, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid. Said Bid Bond shall be given to guarantee that the bidder will execute the contract as specified, within five (5) working days after the notification of the award of the contract to bidder.
Attention is called to the fact that a list of proposed subcontractors must be submitted with the bid.
No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of ninety (90) days after the date and time set for the opening of bids.

(Prequalification Notice)
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Education of the San Diego Unified School District acting by and through its governing board, hereinafter referred to as “Owner”, will be calling for bids for the furnishing of all labor, materials, transportation, equipment and services for the construction to provide upgrades at Kroc Middle School for Creative and Performing Media Arts (CPMA) conversion and remodel of McDowell Elementary School to Innovation Middle School.
As a condition of bidding and in accordance with the provision of Section 20111.5 of the California Public Contract Code, the district is requiring prequalification of all bidders wishing to submit bids on this project. Bidders must prequalify at a minimum of $3 million.
Prospective bidders are required to submit a completed prequalification package supplied by the district including an audited or reviewed financial statement in order to be prequalified for this project. Once submitted, a bidder's prequalification statement is valid for a 12-month period. Bids will not be accepted from any bidder who has not prequalified. Prequalification packages are due on or before 12:00 Noon, on Tuesday, September 9, 2008. Late submittals will not be accepted.
