NOTICE OF PUBLIC WORKSHOP
This notice is to inform you that the Jamul Indian Village has prepared a Draft Tribal Environmental Impact Report/Statement (TEIR/S) for the proposed tribal casino and hotel project to be located on the existing Jamul Indian Village site. The Jamul Indian Village site is located in southwestern San Diego County approximately 1-mile south of the community of Jamul. The site is located within portions of Section 10 and un-sectioned areas of Township 17 S, Range 1 East, San Bernardino Baseline and Meridian, Dulzura, CA and Jamul Mountains, CA, U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute Quadrangle.
The Tribal EIS/R addresses the off-reservation environmental effects associated with the proposed gaming facility and hotel complex which consists of 567,094 total square feet of building space on the existing Indian Village site. The hotel will include 400 beds in 361,900 square feet, and the casino building will cover approximately 205,194 square feet (73,469 square feet of which will be gaming floor area). Ancillary uses to the hotel and casino complex include a parking garage, tribal center, human resources facility, a wastewater treatment plant, and detention basin. Development will be phased with the construction of the casino in the first phase and the construction of the hotel in Phase 2. All of the development would occur on the existing Indian Village site with the exception of the Fire Station under Option 2. If Option 2 is selected, the fire station would be constructed on fee-land immediately south of Melody Road west of the SR 94/Melody Road intersection. Further, while one alternative access road is completely on trust land, another alternative is on land owned in fee by the Village.
The Draft TEIR/S is available for a 45-day public review period beginning August 25th and continuing through October 9th. The Draft TEIS/R and related documents can be reviewed at : (1) the Jamul Indian Village Tribal Office located at 14191 #16 Highway 94; Jamul, California 91935 ((619) 669-4785), (2) at the Rancho San Diego Library located at 11555 Via Rancho San Diego; El Cajon, CA 92019 ((619) 660-5370), and (3) at the Tribal website www.jamulindianvillage.com. The TEIS/R uses the previously prepared Jamul Environmental Impact Statement (Jamul EIS) through the incorporation by reference process. This document and its appendices can also be reviewed at the above locations during the comment period.
