Request for Qualifications
Bio Science 3rd Floor Tenant Improvement Lab Project, Project Number 6589
San Diego State University
The Trustees of The California State University, through this Request for Qualifications (RFQ), intend to contract with a Builder to build out the third floor Bio Science Center at the San Diego State University campus. The scope of the design for the purposes of this RFQ is to add approximately 7800 gsf to the third floor of the recently completed five story Bio Science Center addition. This project will provide increased laboratory capacity specifically to conduct cardiovascular research. Project completion is scheduled for March 2009. Refer to the RFQ for further details. Respondents shall be prequalified with the Trustees, and shall submit their prequalification application no less than five calendar days prior to submittal due date. (The Prequalification package can be downloaded at: ) A technical review committee shall review the responses to this RFQ and, based on the criteria identified in the RFQ, the committee shall select no more than six finalists to receive the Invitation for Bid.

The City of Del Mar seeks a lump sum bid from your firm to perform a minor improvement, optimizing an existing space into a meeting room area and two offices at the Public Works facility, located at 2240 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar, CA 92014. Bid packages are available from the City Clerk's Office, at 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA. 92014, Tel: (858) 755-9313. Request: “Del Mar Public Works Remodel 2008 - Plans and Specifications”.
Work summary includes:
Partitions, doors, electrical, telecommunications, flooring and miscellaneous improvements, as described in these documents and plan.
Sealed proposals will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City of Del Mar, located at 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, California, until 9:30 AM, September 19, 2008, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud at said office. Mailed bids will be addressed to: City Clerk (Del Mar Public Works Remodel 2008), 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, California 92014 and must be received by bid closing.
OPINION OF PROBABLE CONSTRUCTION COST: The Public Works Director's opinion of probable construction cost for this minor improvement project is approximately $10,000.
COMPLETION OF WORK: All WORK must be completed within 15 working days after the commencement date stated in the Notice to Proceed. Please note that during the construction phase, the public works office will remain active. The contractor will have full access to the single room with one exterior access point.
BID SECURITY: Bid Security shall accompany the bid in the form of a certified or cashier's check, or a Bid Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of ten percent of the total bid amount.
PERFORMANCE BOND: The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond made payable to the OWNER in the amount of one hundred percent of the contract amount.
WAGE RATES: Prevailing wage rate for the locality in which the WORK is to be performed and the construction activity applies to this contract. Not less than these rates shall be paid to all workers employed on the project.
CONTRACTOR'S LICENSING LAWS: Attention is directed to the CONTRACTOR's License Law concerning the licensing of CONTRACTORS. CONTRACTORS are required to be licensed and regulated by the CONTRACTOR's State License Board. CONTRACTOR shall also obtain a City of Del Mar business license.
LIQUIDATED DAMAGES: Time is of the essence, failure to complete the Work within the time allowed will result in damages being sustained by the OWNER. For each consecutive calendar day in excess of the time specified for the completion of Work, as adjusted in accordance with 8-1.07 of the Standard Specifications and Modifications to the Standard Specifications, the CONTRACTOR shall pay to the OWNER, or have withheld from monies due it, the sum of $250 for contracts with a value of $100,000 or less, and the sum of $500 for contracts over $100,000.
WARRANTY: The CONTRACTOR shall provide warranty for materials and quality workmanship for a period of one year, following the date of filing of the Notice of Completion of the WORK.
