TIDELAND COMFORT STATION
REFURBISHMENT VARIOUS LOCATION:
CHULA VISTA, CORONADO, IMPERIAL BEACH
NATIONAL CITY AND SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
Work includes furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment as necessary to refurbish Tidelands Comfort Stations at various locations. The Work consists of demolition and replacing plumbing and electrical fixtures, piping, and equipment, repairing and refinishing floors, walls, and roofing, replacing damaged skylights and rain gutters, and other incidentals as described in the construction documents. Accessibility improvements to include; but not limited to, relocating new toilet partitions, adjusting mounting heights of fixtures and equipment, and refurbishing paving for compliance per Title 24 requirements, and other incidental items of work as shown on the Drawings and as specified in the Specifications. The project is located at various tideland locations in the cities of Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, National City and San Diego, California.
The magnitude of this work is in the range of $1,711,089.00 - $2,315,003.00.
The bidder must possess a valid California State Contractors License, Classification B at the time the contract is submitted.
Bids will be opened in public at or about that hour at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, all as more particularly contained in Document No. 53841 on file in the office of the Clerk of the District. No Bidder may withdraw a bid after the date set for bid opening.
A pre-bid conference will be conducted at 2:00p.m.

Plans and specifications may also be purchased for $80.00 per each set on or about August 28, 2008, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding District holidays, from Corporate Services Print Shop, San Diego Unified Port District, P.O. Box 120488, San Diego, CA 92112-0488, or picked up in person at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California, Telephone Number (619) 686-6320. Shipment of plans and specifications by Federal Express is available at Bidder's expense (please provide a completed airbill with your request). The purchase price and cost of shipment are not refundable. One set of plans and specifications will be made available by the District to local plan file services.
In accordance with the provisions of the California State Labor Code, the District has obtained the general prevailing rate of wages (which rate includes employer payments for health and welfare, vacation, pension and similar purposes) applicable to the work to be done, for straight time, overtime, Saturday, Sunday and holiday work. All labor employed on this project shall be paid no less than such minimum rates of wages. These wage rates are available for inspection at the office of the Procurement Services Department of the San Diego Unified Port District.
It is the policy of the San Diego Unified Port District that certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) shall have the maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of District Contracts. The SBE participation goal for this proposal/bid/quote is 26% (twenty-six percent). Certified SBEs with qualifying experience are encouraged to respond to the request for proposals/bids/quotes, etc.
Bidder shall file the bonds as required by the Contract and Civil Code section 3247. The provisions of Public Contract Code section 22300 apply to this Contract.
In the public interest, the District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any informality in a bid.
