As a nearby property owner, tenant, or person who has requested notice, you should know that the City of San Diego City Council will hold a public hearing to consider the proposed amendments to the Gaslamp Quarter Planned District Ordinance (PDO)
(San Diego Municipal Code Chapter 15, Article 3, Divisions 1 through 4) and adoption of the Gaslamp Quarter Design Guidelines (formerly titled Urban Design and Development Manual) for the Gaslamp Quarter Sub Area of the Centre City Redevelopment Project area. The amendments to the Gaslamp Quarter PDO and Design Guidelines include, but are not limited to the expansion of the period of significance from 1880-1910; inclusion of off-street parking requirements; addition of maximum ground floor area ratio per use; guidelines for the rehabilitation of historical structures; revised design review and permit procedures; guidelines for automatic teller machines, sidewalk cafes, cellular phone antennas, painting of exterior facades; allowing taller buildings on parcels 20,000 square feet or more not containing historical structures north of Island Avenue and adding an abatement clause for non-conforming structures (sidewalk cafes, awnings, canopies, etc.) that do not meet the new regulations which would require their removal after 5 years after adoption of the new regulations.

City of San Diego Seeks Public Audit Committee Members
Following the passage of Proposition C in June 2008, the City of San Diego began the process of changing the configuration of its Audit Committee from 3 City Councilmembers to 2 City Councilmembers and 3 Public Members. Total Committee membership will increase from 3 to 5 positions. To implement this, the City of San Diego is interested in qualified applicants for the new public member positions on the reconfigured Audit Committee. Candidates must possess at least 10 years of experience as a certified public accountant or as a certified internal auditor, or ten years of other professional financial or legal experience in audit management. Qualified applicants need not reside within the City of San Diego. The current deadline to apply is 9/03/08.
