CALLING FOR BIDS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE CAJON VALLEY UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT of San Diego County, California, acting by and through its Governing Board, hereinafter referred to as the Owner, will receive up to, but not later than 2:00 p.m. of the 25th day of September, 2003, sealed bids for the award of a contract for:

CHASE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
NEW LIBRARY
A pre-bid walk will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2003,9:00 a.m. Contractors are to meet in front of Chase Elementary School, 195 E. Chase Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020
Bids shall be received in the office of the Purchasing Office of the Board of Education of said District located at 535 Vernon Way, El Cajon, California and shall be opened and publicly read aloud at the above-stated time and place.
Each bid must conform and be responsive to the contract documents. Bid packages will be available from Mayer Reprographics, 1065 University Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103, (619) 295-4112 for a deposit of $50.00. Deposit checks are to be made out to Cajon Valley Union School District.
Bid documents will also be available at the job walk.
Estimated cost of project is $400,000. Questions regarding this bid should be directed to John Forrest, Construction Projects Supervisor, (619) 588-3651 or Susan Olinger, Director of Purchasing & Warehousing, (619) 588-3266.
Each bid shall be accompanied by the security referred to in the contract documents, the Contractor's Certificate regarding Worker's Compensation, Bid Form, Bid Bond, Designation of Subcontractors, Contractor's Statement for Maintaining A Drug-Free Workplace, and Noncollusion Affidavit.
Cajon Valley Union School District will require a payment bond issued by an admitted Surety approved to conduct business in the State of California in the form set forth in the contract documents from the successful bidder regardless of the contract amount.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any irregularities or informalities in any bids or in the bidding.
The Director of Industrial Relations has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder. Prevailing Wage Determinators are available on the internet under the Director of Industrial Relations website: http://www.dir.ca.gov
It shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract is awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay not less than the said specified rates to all workers employed by them in the execution of the contract.
Each bidder shall be a licensed contractor pursuant to the Business and Professions Code and shall be licensed in one of the following classifications: B - General
No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the set for the opening of bids.
