Wage lien bill moves quickly; CAR promises fight

A state Assembly bill that would allow employees to file wage liens against commercial and some residential property is moving through the state Legislature, but AB 2416 won't be approved without a fight.

Housing volume sold in July down year-over-year

The July housing market saw a slight dip in detached median prices from June, though still up from July 2013, but a significant decrease in the number of units sold from a year ago for both detached and attached homes. Single-family attached sold units were slightly higher than last month.

Land sale OK'd for SD Malkin resort in Oceanside

The Oceanside Economic Development Commission this month approved a $1.5 million land sale to SD Malkin Properties for a two-hotel resort. This and an expected $13.5 million city subsidy will take the project closer to fruition — although financing is still being worked out.
