It was a tour de force attracting 56,219 visitors in its 4 1/2-week run. The Sycuan Casino & Resort Tour d'Elegance Luxury Home Tour in The Gates at The Woods by EastLake in Chula Vista achieved its goal of surpassing 55,000 visitors, announced co-chairs Bill Ostrem of The EastLake Co. and Kathy Courtney of William Lyon Homes.
The Tour involved a walk-through of five new estates between July 11 and Aug. 10. One of the five manor-quality estates sold for approximately $3.5 million, and the other modern-day mansions are attracting potential buyers, according to Debra A. Dorsee, Tour director.
Three children's organizations will share approximately $90,000 in proceeds from the Tour, Dorsee announced. They are the Boys and Girls Club of Chula Vista, EastLake Educational Foundation and BIA Cares for Kids.
Host and producer of the Tour d'Elegance is the Building Industry Association of San Diego County. Previous Tours were mounted in 1994, 1996 and 2001.
The luxury estates were built by ColRich by Pulte Homes, CDGI (Concepto Design Group International), Cornerstone Communities, Johnson Beucler Communities and Shea Homes.
The 2003 sponsors were Sycuan Casino & Resort, San Diego Gas & Electric, Wells Fargo, Cox Communications, The EastLake Co., The Corky McMillin Cos., United Auto Group's BMW, Lexus and Mercedes Benz of San Diego, the Dawn Lewis team at Prudential California Realty, Western Pacific Housing, a DR Horton Co., First American Title, Grand Pacific Resorts, Henry's Marketplace, Palomar Mountain Spring Water, Dixieline Lumber and Home Centers, Howard Associates Inc., Kuchler Imagery, Rockwell D. King Construction Inc., Lego Systems Inc. and ValleyCrest Landscape Development.
The Tour site was within EastLake, a 3,200-acre master-planned community in South County.
