A team of San Diego State University undergraduate students won in the fourth annual NAIOP University Challenge, making it the third time in four years that the SDSU has taken the top prize. The challenge was staged on April 25 as SDSU competed with students from the University of San Diego and the University of California, San Diego.
The students were given the challenge of providing the most practical and best-use solution for a long-standing local development issue regarding an underutilized site in a high-traffic area of San Diego. Both teams submitted proposals that were judged by top local real estate professionals.
The student team from SDSU consisted of real estate majors Bharat Madan, Carolina Conway and Austin Harrison; finance majors Kelli Knapp and Ian Bradley; and economics major Jared Anderson.
NAIOP is a national Commercial Real Estate Development Association for developers, owners and related professionals in office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate.
