NBC 7 acquires Murphy Canyon office building

The 52,347-square-foot office building in Murphy Canyon at 9680 Granite Ridge Drive, San Diego 92123, has been sold for $9.64 million, cash.

The buyer was KNSD Granite Ridge LLC. The seller of the property (assessor's parcel 421-400-32) was T-C Stonevest LLC.

Representing the seller was Brad Black and Mike Hoeck, of CBRE (NYSE: CBG). Representing the buyer was Tim Cowden, Jay Arnett and David Kim, of Colliers International's New York and San Diego offices.

The two-story building will be occupied by NBC 7 San Diego. Officials said the station, owned by NBCUniversal Media LLC, will be relocated by the third quarter of 2016. Tenant improvements will continue through 2015. Development plans are not yet final. NBCUniversal is a division of Philadelphia-based Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA).

NBC 7 will move out of its current headquarters in downtown San Diego at 225 Broadway, owned by The Irvine Co.

“Evolving media technologies, a need for a larger studio, and today's favorable cost of funds made it advantageous for NBC 7 to purchase their own building,” said Cowden, a senior vice president in Colliers’ San Diego office.
