Patio Village in Kearny Mesa sold to Zoological Society

The 50-unit Patio Village Apartments complex (photo) in Kearny Mesa at 8501-8549 Glenhaven St., San Diego 92123, and the adjacent four-unit apartment at 8562-8568 Hurlbut St. have been sold for $3,644,500, cash.

The buyer was the Foundation of the Zoological Society of San Diego, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, P.O. Box 120551, San Diego 92112.

The seller of the properties (assessor's parcels 421-190-22 and 27) was Nelson M. Millsberg.

The two-story Patio Village totals 42,450 square feet on a 1.61-acre lot at the corner of Glenhaven and Afton Road.

The apartment offers studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units.

The units on Hurlbut consist of 12 bedrooms and eight bathrooms totaling 4,518 square feet. The two-story apartment was constructed in 1959 on a 7,031-square-foot lot.

Just this month, The Zoological Society of San Diego sold the 10-unit apartment in University Heights at 4550-4554 Idaho St., San Diego, for $1.8 million. That two-story, approximately 6,800-square-foot apartment consisted of 14 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms constructed in 1971 on a 7,000-square-foot lot.
