Creveling named ASCE governor

Mark Creveling, CEO of Simon Wong Engineering in San Diego, was recently elected as governor of Region 9 of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). As governor, he will serve on ASCE's board representing sections and branches in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego and San Francisco.

Creveling has served as president of the San Diego Section, as chairman of the San Diego Section's scholarship, nominations, awards, annual banquet, contract negotiations, transportation, Building Big and engineering public awareness committees.

Sundt managers awarded DBIA designation

Peter J. Larsen, Duane F. Mockus and Ryan J. Nessen, project managers with Sundt Construction Inc., have successfully completed the requirements for the Designated Design-Build Professional designation from The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).

Van Ness hires VP of acquisitions

Carl Valente has joined the SVN Equities LLC division of Sperry Van Ness Commercial Real Estate Advisors as vice president of acquisitions.

Valente, a 20-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, will be responsible for new acquisitions for the company in the greater San Diego area, as well as the states of Arizona, Washington, Kansas and Illinois. His focus will be on locating value-added multitenant and flex-space industrial parks and shopping centers for the company's portfolio.

Prior to joining SVN Equities, Valente owned and operated Valente Properties in Oceanside. He also served as vice president of property management for Coldwell Banker Commercial's office in Irvine and was an industrial broker with CB Richard Ellis's Ontario office. In addition, Valente was an asset manager for CCD Enterprises Inc. in Seattle.

Canedo joins SCS Engineers

Maria Canedo has joined the San Diego office of SCS Engineers as an associate staff professional. She is responsible for the preparation of Phase 1 site assessments, storm water pollution prevention plans, and storm water management plans. She also will be involved in evaluating landfill gas systems, and overseeing water/ground sampling.

Prior to joining SCS, Canedo served as a student worker for the County of San Diego.

Russell, Stevens honored

Tony Russell and Lori Ann Stevens have receive Emerging Leaders Awards by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).

Russell is an office properties specialist with Grubb & Ellis/BRE Commercial in San Diego. Over his seven-year career, Russell has completed more than 360 transactions totaling $362 million and was honored as his company's Rookie of the Year in 2002.

Stevens is a project manager and business development manager with Ledcor Construction Group in San Diego. By the age of 28, she was the youngest person and first female to become a project manager in Ledcor's local office.

KBM appoints construction services manager

Bill Klansnic has been appointed construction services manager for KBM Building Services. He is responsible for overseeing KBM's construction services division, which combines both contracting skills and a comprehensive project management approach into maintenance services. He will direct maintenance crews, estimate projects and oversee overall customer service efforts. Prior to joining KBM, Klansnic was employed by McKowski's Maintenance Systems. Previously, he served as an IT technician for Nordstrom.
