Lennar Communities has announced plans to develop The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, a 550-acre golf course-oriented development, formerly known as The Horizon Country Club.

Construction work on the 18-hole golf course and the first of what will be 205 custom lots was begun in 1988 by co-developer Nicolas Marsch of Rancho Santa Fe. Marsch teamed up with Lennar in February of this year.

The lots range in size from 7,500 square feet to two acres and average about $750,000 in price. The development features a 35,000-square-foot golf clubhouse designed in the style of a Tuscan village.

Along with Lennar, the project team includes golf course designer Robert Trent Jones, Winchester development Co., Pinnacle Design Co., and Marsch & Associates, the golf clubhouse architect.
