Barratt American has registered sales of 349 homes in calendar 1998 throughout Southern California and forecasts an increase to 422 sales in 1999.

The homebuilder also announced it has begun work on three new single-family residential communities in Encinitas and Poway in San Diego County and in Murrieta in Riverside County.

The Encinitas project is the 57-home Quail Ridge in master-planned Encinitas Ranch. Designed by Starck Architecture & Planning, the development will offer five floor plans from 3,119 to 5,415 square feet priced from approximately $650,000 to $850,000.

In Poway is a 14-home, semi-custom development called High Valley Ranch on two-acre lots. Three floor plans range from 3,500 to 4,000 square feet with anticipated prices from $660,000 to $700,000. Selection of an architect is currently under way.

Barratt also has begun site preparations for Olive Hill Ranch in Murrieta. The 44 homes will occupy one-acre-plus lots. Designer The Case Group Architects has three floor plans from 3,200 to 4,000 square feet with pricing from about $360,000 to $450,000.

Barratt is also building and marketing 15 other new-home communities from San Diego to Antelope Valley.


Techbilt Inc. has completed construction on the final phase of Del Lago on the Greens in Lomas del Lago Estates north of Rancho Bernardo. Fifteen single- and two-story homes range from 1,730 to 2,447 square feet with three to five bedrooms. Prices range from $307,000 to $448,000.


Catalina Design Group has completed the design and merchandising of the sales office and three model homes at Centex Homes' Silverado at Otay Ranch. Floor plans range from 1,513 to 1,798 square feet.


Brookfield Homes has selected The Case Group of Solana Beach as community architect for 118-home Terraza, Brookfield's fifth neighborhood at master-planned Scripps Ranch Villages in San Diego. The three two-story floor plans range from 2,768 to 3,723 square feet with four and five bedrooms. Prices are expected to start in the high $300,000s.


Ryland has opened sales on 10-home phase 12 of the Estates Series at The Colony at California Oaks in Murrieta. The phase is priced from $190,990 to $208,990. Estates offers three single-story floor plans from 1,854 to 2,086 square feet with two or three bedrooms. The Colony had a record 212 sales in 1998.
