Otay Ranch in South County had nearly one-quarter of all new-home sales in San Diego County last year, according to The Meyers Group, a real estate information service.
"South County's market share is expected to go even higher in 2000," said Peter Dennehy, managing director of Meyers. In the past two quarters, he noted, Otay Ranch has sold 340 homes, making it the top-selling master-planned community in the county.
Builders at the 5,300-acre development include Centex Homes, Pacific Coast Communities, Shea Homes, Standard Pacific Homes, Trimark Pacific Homes and William Lyon Homes. Together, the developers have 43 decorated model homes available for inspection. Prices at the Otay Ranch neighborhoods range from the low $200,000s to the high $300,000s.
