For the third time in seven years, a Tour d'Elegance is planned for San Diego County. The 2001 Tour of five opulent homes valued at $2 million-$3 million is scheduled for a five-week run in summer 2001 at Cielo, a 1,750-acre, master-planned community in Rancho Santa Fe.

William A. Davidson, president of Davidson Communities, has been appointed chairman of the Tour d'Elegance committee. Debra A. Dorsee, a political fund-raiser and event manager for the Amercian Cancer Society, has been named tour director.

Previous tours were held in 1994 at Scripps Ranch Villages in San Diego and in 1996 at Rancho del Rey in Chula Vista.

The five developers named to build homes are Rancho Cielo Estates Ltd., Chrisman Development, Davidson Communities, Rich Somers Construction and Stonefield Development.

Besides Davidson and Dorsee, other committee members are Paul Tryon, executive vice president of the Building Industry Association of San Diego, the event's producer; Bob Clines of Cal Custom Manufacturing, Kathy Courtney of William Lyon Homes, Dave Dacus and Laurie McClain of Rancho Cielo Estates, Eve Hager of Commonwealth Land Title, Steve Lyman of Creative Touch Interiors, Boll Ostrem of EastLake Development and Jane Wheeler of Roni Hicks & Associates.


McMillin Homes reports 21 sales at two McMillin Lomas Verdes neighborhoods in Otay Ranch after two weeks on the market; eight at its 90-unit Primrose and 13 at its 74-home Marigold. A combined twelve sales were reported logged on opening day.

Primrose floor plans range from 2,116 to 2,458 square feet with four and five bedrooms. Prices start from the $260,000s. Marigold floor plans range from 1,767 to 2,083 square feet with three and four bedrooms. Prices are priced from the $230,000s.


Centex Homes released seven homes Saturday at The Enclave in La Costa Valley in Carlsbad. The release was the second half of the seventh phase and was prices from the $400,000s. The 161-home The Enclave offers four one- and two-story floor plans from 2,000 to 2,800 square feet with two to five bedrooms.


Shea Homes San Diego on Sunday released the final phase of homes at its 40-unit Devonshire neighborhood at Encinitas Ranch in Encinitas. The first sale was made eight months ago. The six-home phase is priced from the mid-$300,000s. Four one- and two-story floor plans range from 1,625 to 2,578 square feet with three to five bedrooms.


Ryland Homes on Saturday held a grand opening for its Hidden Meadows community in Vista. Of the planned 41 homes, three have been sold and eight are available at the grand opening. Prices range from the $390,00s to the $450,000s. Four floor plans range from 2,673 to 3,646 square feet with three to six bedrooms.


Barratt American on Sunday held a grand opening at its High Valley Estates community in Poway. Of the 14 homes planned for release, seven have been sold. Prices range from $742,900 to $905,000. Floor plans range from 3,175 to 4,559 square feet with three to six bedrooms.
