The March 28 Business Expo and Taste of Poway is the major business-to-business event of the year for the Poway Chamber of Commerce. A crowd of more than 500 people is expected, drawn by the opportunity to attend two seminars, sample tasty food from 12 local restaurants and learn about the services of 60 businesses.
The Chamber's Business Resource Committee is planning the event, which will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Poway Community Center, 13094 Bowron Road. Ramada Limited Hotel is the major sponsor of the event. Admission is $5, which includes the expo, seminars and Taste of Poway.
Exhibitor spaces for the event were sold out four weeks ahead of time. "We sold out this year's expo so quickly because last year's event was such a success," said Committee Chair Sharon Wesemann of Clever Promotions. "We had a big crowd last year, and we're working to bring even more people in this year. The expo packs a lot of networking, information and good food into a few hours."
The Chamber and many individual exhibitors will hold prize drawings throughout the event.
The Business Expo will include two seminars. Speaking at 3:15 p.m. will be best-selling author Harry Paul, a Poway resident and co-author of "FISH! A Remarkable Way to Boost Morale and Improve Results." The FISH! philosophy is based on Seattle's Pike Place Fish Market. Despite working 14-hour days in cold, wet and smelly conditions, the Pike Place fishmongers bring joy, enthusiasm and accountability to work every day and have a Thank God It's Monday attitude.
The second seminar, starting at 4:30 p.m., will be "How to do Business with Big Business," a panel of larger local business officials, including Gateway (NYSE: GTW) and Geico Direct. These businesses will offer tips on how to approach larger businesses about getting their business.
